(Beware of spoilers!) The pandemic has been a difficult time - not only for individuals, healthcare systems and governments, but also for many sectors of the economy. Despite the hardships facing everyone, brilliant works of art have been born in this period. One such work is certainly Thomas Vinterberg's film - Another Round. This award-winning work of art is a fantastic blend of great actors' performances, beautiful shots and appealing music. What is it really about, though? Every person participating in art, whether it is the creators or the audience, naturally has some interpretation of such a work. According to the director himself the story was originally meant to be "a celebration of alcohol based on the thesis that the history of the world would have been different without alcohol". A family tragedy changed his approach: "It shouldn't just be about drinking. It should be about being awakened to life." How well did the creators of this film transmit that? A key scene to understanding this movie is the shy student’s, Sebastian’s, oral exam. In it he talks about Kierkegaard's idea, that one must accept oneself as fallible to be able to love others and to love life. That is to say, in a way, that one must accept one's own failures to be able to accept oneself. That is what Martin is able to do by the end. At the beginning he was a tired man, who was devoid of true joy, without much meaning in life, with no confidence in himself. His experiences with alcohol, problems in his relationship with Anika, and the tragic loss of a friend forced him to see reality and himself from a different perspective.  Martin embraced his failures, accepted them. This allows him to accept himself, find self-confidence, love the people around him, love life. By the end of the film, the protagonist is content with who he is, he finds confidence in himself and his experiences. Martin’s outlook on reality and himself changed. His dance represents this fantastically. Throughout the movie his friends repeatedly ask him to dance, as he had once taken lessons in it, but he consistently declines. In the ending scene he finally embraces his identity and truly allows himself be who he is. He is self-confident enough to express himself. The song "What A Life" appears both at the beginning of the motion picture, when teenagers are partying, and at the end, when the graduates are celebrating with the three teachers. Its lyrics beautifully encapsulate the change that Martin underwent: What a life, what a night What a beautiful, beautiful ride Don't know where I'm in five but I'm young and alive Fuck what they are saying, what a life   It's okay, it's okay That we're living, we're living this way Don't know where I'm in five but I'm young and alive Fuck what they are saying, what a life Martin was finally able to awaken to life.
